Note: Between November and March, please check in advance that you have accommodation available to you, particularly in remote areas, as not all places remain open all year round

So...Acccommodation...and Food

Probably the most important piece of the holiday, and the key to your enjoyment of the area! From Hotels to Bed and Breakfast and from cosy cottages to campsites & hostels, view our accommodation members:

Not sure where all these places are? Here's a map to help you out!

The cornerstone of accommodation in rural areas like ours used to be "Bed and Breakfast" - this is where you are staying in somebody's own home, and perhaps sharing living space with the family. It's a great way of really learning more about what it's like to live here, what people do for a living, and what it's REALLY like to bring up a family in one of the most beautiful areas of Britain, and indeed, the world. Nowadays, many B&Bs have standards of accommodation, catering, and facilities that can rival hotels - and at very attractive prices.

Duisary B&B, Gairloch         An Cos self/c, Shieldaig    The Pines self/c, Kinlochewe

But if it's a hotel you are after (and many prefer the luxury of having access to bar and facilities that hotels offer) Wester Ross has everything from small family run hotels in traditional Highland buildings all the way through to 5 star luxury accommodation.

Applecross Hotel         Ledgowan Lodge, Achnasheen    Kinlochewe Hotel

Alternatively, and if you are wanting to stay in the same place for longer OR to use one location as a base to explore an area - how about self catering? Self catering accommodation is now one of the largest sectors of the industry, and every village or community has a selection of these available. They are often in traditional crofthouses that now offer all modern facilities, yet with loads of character that come with older buildings - if that's not your taste, there's also a wide choice of  purpose built self catering throughout the area.

Finally - hostels, camping, "wigwam" accommodation - it's all available in Wester Ross, and comes complete with scenery and activities that all the family can enjoy.

Torridon Youth Hostel                                                                Dry Island, Gairloch

And to eat? Hotels, cafes, restaurants - even the smallest community has at least one cafe or good restaurant nearby. Have a look and chew things over....and tempt your tastes with our:
