Weather in the Highlands

One of our favourite subjects to talk about!

Ah, yes. Weather. Of course it always rains in Scotland, doesn't it? Actually - NO! For example, the summer of 2012 had Wester Ross as one of the driest areas of the entire Uk.

The month of March featured a heatwave (temperatures up to 23 degrees C), then April was quite calm and warm - May was variable, and with a very wet day on the 13th, when we had 109 mm of rain between morning and evening. But then.....little or no rain for the next three months!

While the rest of the UK was seemingly underwater for most of summer 2012, the whole of the North-West was enjoying one of the best periods of good weather for some time!

The weather station at Inverewe Gardens (conveniently located pretty much in the middle of Wester Ross) has provided Rainfall Statistics and Sunshine Statistics
